Windsound Learning was born out of a desire to support ourselves and others to thrive.
We have learned—through attending to stories, readings, and our own experiences— that
our capacities to thrive can be challenged by experiences of violence , including the most
obvious, brutal forms of violence, as well as day to day lived experiences that can wear
us down.

There is need for individual and collective commitment and action to redress social
injustices and violence in our communities, in the world and towards the world. In that
context, our focus in Windsound Learning has been on creating environments that
support people, in the company of others, to bring our whole selves to teaching and
learning, and to learn and know about ourselves and each other. Our particular approach
is to use expressive arts and contemplative practices based in a holistic model.

We believe that through these practices, we may become clearer about who we are. We
can believe in and draw on our inner resources and sense of self, and be less directed by
external forces. We may be able to let go of reactions that come from places of shame
and fear and act more from a deep sense of compassion and care. Our belief is that acting
from this place will ripple out to support peaceful ways of being in the wider world.
